Writing Again (for the nth time)
It's been a while since I last wrote a blog entry. This platform (blogging in general) used to be a ground from where I usually express my thoughts over things which vary from a broad range of topics, not until Facebook came along.
Honestly, one of the reasons why I started to blog was to grow my network within my career field. I was an almost graduating student back then in college where I was starting to plan my career and where I wanted to go after. I may be equipped with knowledge ready to work but I do not know when and where to start not until I was invited to attend Microsoft DevDays 2004. As my engagement with almost anything Microsoft developer - related increased, I soon find myself starting a blog in one of Microsoft's student online community - theSpoke.net. From there, I was able to meet new friends, acquaintances, and business contacts - people I wouldn't have met if not for the site.
With the growing popularity of Wordpress.com, I transferred my blog there and the rest was history. From that blog, I mixed personal and technology posts which eventually led me to getting the Microsoft MVP award. Usage of the blog waned down as I started to become more engaged in maintaining my MVP award through community events through public speaking, and for a brief time, through MSDN forums. Also, the rise of Facebook and microblogging (sharing snippets/thoughts from links) where people can comment made blogging a tedious task to do.
Well, Facebook is still here and one would wonder, "so why go back to blogging"?
Probably because Facebook is a polarized place, it's no longer the same social network that I enjoyed using years ago. Maybe I was looking for a place where I could possibly express thoughts in a place where I am comfortable to do so, and the blog came along.
I could have restarted back to wordpress.com but I realized, I need a breather, and this one of my parked blogs would be a good beginning to restart writing. Writing hasn't really left me. As a matter of fact, I still keep a pen with me wherever I go - work or somewhere else. There are some quotes, or ideas that suddenly jolt in my head that if I don't get to write them right away, I might miss them and not remember at all.
Hope this would be a good start, a consistent hobby that I would enjoy, as much as I do taking photos. Wish me luck but no pressure at all.
