Happy New Year!
For the longest time that I am active in Facebook, I always see to it that I have a year-end message. These are usually micro-blog entries, typical of looking back at the past and forward to the coming year.
As I got older, it's nice to have a glimpse of the things that I have written before, and how I "matured" in terms of the things that I put. Indeed, experience is the best teacher as they say. We learn and understand more as we experience things firsthand. The gist of the past year has taught me is about accepting things and circumstances that is totally beyond our control. It also taught me about letting go on things that won’t work even how eager are we for this. Truly, we can’t have everything we want, but we can always stay grateful for the things that we have, and things fall into place if they’re really for you.
Despite the challenging times, there’s always nice things to look back in the past year. I was able to revisit my interest in doing landscape photography after meeting an acquaintance. I would say that I have progressed in my hobby after starting to collect vintage lenses. I guess what triggered this is my good friend Darren from NC, that introduced me to adapting lenses to mirrorless bodies. Who would have say no to a high rated vintage lens for only $20? Also, with these vintage lenses, I have thought that it might be time for me to upgrade to a full-frame body and I got Matikas.
Work has always haunted me in things I never imagined. After the botched move to work for an electric car company in California (after 7 interviews for a contractual position), the I-almost-got-it-because-they-flew-me-in finance company in Michigan, and the abrupt cancellation of contract work in the middle of the day, I realized how volatile things are and how plans can change in a snap. If there’s any consolation with these events is that knowing that if it didn’t work, pick up the lessons, and move on to the next. How disappointing it might be on for things don’t go as planned, the goals remain. Detours may come our way, but it only opens up to be more creative on ways for getting things done.
I am pretty much excited in this year to come. Some sacrifices has to be made but looking forward that these would be worth it.
And may you live today worthy to be part the best story of your life.
